Woda Cooper Begins Renovations on Historic Smithfield Lofts as Part of Downtown Pittsburgh Revitalization Effort

Woda Cooper hosted a ceremonial project kick off May 19. The historical Smithfield Lofts building is being renovated into 46 affordable housing units as part of the city’s $600M plan to makeover Downtown Pittsburgh. Thanks to Mayor Corey O’Connor, Secretary Rick Siger of the Department of Community & Economic Development, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the Housing Authority of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, PNC and all of our partners who helped make this important project a reality.

The historical 12-story office building will be transformed into a mixed-use property with 46 affordable apartments (efficiencies, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units) and office space on the second and third floors. Rent ranges from $775 to $1,355/month based on 30-80% AMI depending on the number of bedrooms, size of the unit and income restrictions. The total cost of development was $19.3M. Amenities include a rooftop terrace, fitness center, green building, playground and several units for those with disabilities.
