Simone is a winner!
College student Simone Douglas-Shepard, 18, of Newport News, VA, was thrilled to be named a winner at this year’s Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NNRHA) scholarship program banquet. The Woda Group, Inc. was a sponsor for the program that provides financial assistance for outstanding students pursuing college or similar post-secondary educational opportunities.
Simone is a sophomore at Thomas Nelson Community College and plans to soon transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising. She hopes someday to become a buyer at a clothing or department store. In addition to school, Simone is a sales clerk at a tourism park, volunteer at a local library and elementary school, and enjoys participating in her church choir.
