Jessup, MD (April 3, 2025) Woda Cooper Companies, Inc. hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration today to mark the opening of Brock Bridge Landing, a new 38-unit mixed-income townhome community located at 2001 Lazelle Drive in Jessup.    Co-developer is Interfaith Housing Alliance who also coordinates onsite services for residents.

Brock Bridge Landing represents a combination of public and private investment and collaboration including Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development, Bank of America, Berkadia, Anne Arundel County and Arundel Community Development Services.

Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman assists new resident Heather Spears as Brock Bridge Landing partners and supporters look on.

“In a time when too many working families and older adults are being priced out of their communities, my administration is using every tool we have to deliver more quality, affordable rental homes like the ones here at Brock Bridge Landing,” said Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman. “We’ve prioritized our federal HOME funds to support developments that keep rents within reach. This is how we build a county that is affordable for everyone, not just those at the top.”

Brock Bridge Landing’s first resident to move in was Heather Spears who spoke at the grand opening. She told her story of “financial redemption” and search for housing that led her to the community. Watch her story here.

Brock Bridge Landing has six two-bedroom townhomes and 32 three-bedroom townhomes.  Thirty-four of the homes are reserved for residents with household incomes of 30% to 60% area median income (AMI) or about $36,660 to $73,320 for a family of four people. Monthly rents for the 34 affordable units range from $788 to $1,575, depending on unit size and whether there is a garage, and household income. There are four more townhomes offered at market rate without income restriction.   The Baltimore Metropolitan Council provided rental assistance for eight townhomes.

The townhomes have spacious, open layouts, quality finishes, such as luxury vinyl tile flooring, plenty of storage, and energy-efficient features and appliances, including dishwashers.  All three-bedroom townhomes have two and half bathrooms.  Six of the 38 homes have accessibility features for residents with mobility challenges or sight or hearing disabilities.

Community spaces include a community room w/kitchenette for gatherings and a management center with an office area for the onsite manager and maintenance technician.

“Brock Bridge Landing benefits from strong public-private partnerships to serve Anne Arundel County residents in need of quality affordable and maintenance-free housing options,” said Malik Jordan, Woda Cooper Companies’ Senior Vice President – Development.  “We appreciate the state and local support to bring the new housing to Jessup, particularly through the housing tax credits allocated by MD Department of Housing and Community Development and financial backing from Anne Arundel County’s Arundel Community Development Services.”

Primary financing was made possible through the allocation of housing tax credits to Brock Bridge Landingby MD HCD.   “The State of Maryland is proud to partner with Woda Cooper and the Interfaith Housing Alliance to support Brock Bridge Landing and create much-needed housing in Anne Arundel County,” said Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day. “This modern townhome community will provide affordable homes for working families and empower economic growth in the County – exactly the kinds of housing outcomes we hope to see through state investment.”

Bank of America Greater Maryland Market President Janet Currie.

Bank of America invested in the tax credits and provided the construction loan.  “Brock Bridge Landing is more than just a place to live—it’s a foundation for economic stability and community growth,” said Bank of America Greater Maryland President Janet Currie. “Bank of America is committed to expanding opportunities for individuals and families in Anne Arundel County to access safe and sustainable housing.”

Berkadia is providing the first permanent mortgage.  “Brock Bridge Landing represents a pivotal moment for affordable housing in Jessup, further demonstrating the power of community-driven development and investment,” said Matthew Napoleon, Senior Managing Director, Berkadia. “We’re grateful for the partnership with Woda Cooper Companies, Freddie Mac, and the many partners who played a vital part in making this possible.”
