Portland School Apartments and Woda Cooper featured on NPR

Portland School Apartments and Woda Cooper Companies, Inc. were the focus of a recent news story by NPR reporter Katie Cook of WKAR in East Lansing, MI.

Listen to the 3.5 minute story that quotes Portland School Apartments resident Diane Schafer; local housing advocate Sandy Pearson; Earl Poleski, Executive Director of Michigan State Housing Development Authority; and David Cooper, Jr., Principal and Managing Director of Woda Cooper Companies, Inc.

The complete restoration and conversion of the 1919 Portland School building into 29 new units was a large group effort supported through housing tax credits allocated by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and historic preservation tax credits from the National Park Service. In addition, it was made possible through PNC Real Estate as investor and lender. And it all could have not been done without the great partnership with the City of Portland, Michigan.
