Meet our Student Interns for Summer 2020

Share

We are thrilled to introduce you to six student interns who joined the ranks of Woda Cooper Companies this summer. Like the rest of our headquarters staff, they are mainly working remotely and have found their pathways via teleconference, work share sites, and email to efficiently contribute toward the company’s mission to create high quality affordable housing.

Human Resources intern Shira Ophir (upper left) completed her second year at Ohio State University last spring. She’s majoring in International Studies with a minor in Spanish. At Woda Cooper, Shira is assisting with various audits, tracking 90 Day Reviews, overseeing Michigan Recruiting, and also has been helping to produce the weekly employee newsletter. Shira hails from Cleveland and enjoys biking, watching Netflix, and has taken it upon herself to learn to cook during the COVID-19 quarantine.

Shira is joined by five Development interns. Clockwise from Shira, they include:

Jake Zinn who grew up in the Columbus area and also just wrapped up his second year at Ohio State, majoring in Finance and minoring in Business Analytics.  Jake says he’s a huge sports fan but has also been enjoying hiking, drawing, and working on an Alternative music project during quarantine. At Woda Cooper, he’s been involved with site selection for Illinois and Tennessee.

Maylene Renninger, a junior at Ohio State this fall and originally from Grove City, OH. She has a double major in Finance and Real Estate, with minors in Environment, Economy, Development, and Sustainability and Music, Media, and Enterprise. As a Development intern, she’s been assisting with site selection in Virginia and credit applications and recently transitioned to the Finance area to assist with rent analysis and financial modeling and projections.  In her free time, Maylene enjoys traveling, hockey, car shows, photography, and playing the violin and ukulele. She’s also proving herself as a solid trivia player during Woda Cooper team building events.

Delphine Boitano, Irvine, CA, who returned for her second summer internship at Woda Cooper. This year she’s jumped in to help the Development team with applications and other assignments in Human Resources. Delphine will enter her senior year of high school this fall and plans on pursuing a college major in a STEM field with a goal to eventually attend medical school. In her free time, Delphine loves to hike, go to the beach, and watch copious amounts of Netflix.

Cassie Ziance graduated this past spring from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, specializing in Accounting and Real Estate. Cassie, from Columbus suburb Bexley, first joined Woda Cooper during the summer of 2018 and has assisted with site selection in Michigan, as well as employee morale initiatives, including helping to organize the first annual cornhole tournament. Cassie worked at the company part time throughout the last two school years and will remain at Woda Cooper until fall of 2020. She will then move to Chicago to start full-time at KPMG as an Associate in the Audit and Accounting Advisory Dual Path program.

Maddie Woda, of Columbus, graduated in May from Columbia University in New York City, with a degree in English. She has been working for Woda Cooper Companies off and on for a decade. Her plan is to eventually return to NYC to work in publishing but is enjoying learning more about Woda Cooper Companies’ mission and daily operations this summer. She’s working with Yardi and is helping to facilitate her parents’ newly-established Jeffrey and Lynette Woda Scholarship. Maddie sees the development of affordable housing as a good antidote to gentrification in post-industrial Midwestern towns. An avid reader, she is always looking for book recommendations.

We are proud of the excellent student talent serving us this summer.
