Mayor Andrew Ginther announces new affordable housing initiatives for Columbus at Jenkins Street Lofts

With the backdrop of Jenkins Street Lofts, a 60-unit general occupancy community now under construction in Columbus, Mayor Andrew Ginther announced on Monday, May 10, 2021, the City’s new affordable housing initiatives including a $10 million investment to address affordable housing and a new staff position to focus on the issue. Erin Prosser will take the reins for the new role as Assistant Director of Housing Strategies.

Woda Cooper Companies’ Jeffrey J. Woda thanked the City for its support for Jenkins Street Lofts which is being co-developed with nonprofit Community Development for All People (CD4AP). “Developments like Jenkins Street Lofts are a reality due to the City’s willingness to invest in affordable housing,” said Mr. Woda.

“We can live together black/white, young/old, rich/poor. We can have communities that are opportunity-rich and where there’s an affordable home for everybody,” commented Rev. John Edgar, Executive Director for CD4AP.

Jenkins Street Loft will be available residents who a range of incomes from up to 30 to 70 percent area median income. It will include an onsite early learning and daycare center operated by Southside Learning and Development Center. CD4AP will coordinate supportive services.

In addition to the City of Columbus, we thank Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA), Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, First Commonwealth Bank, and Affordable Housing Trust for Columbus and Franklin County for the support to create this new and much-needed affordable housing community. #affordablehousing
