Woda Cooper Companies, Inc. is pleased to announce that our rehabilitation of Fairview Heights in Mineral Point, WI, earned the senior apartments a Green Communities certification given by Enterprise Green Communities.
This rehabilitation of the 29 year old Rural Development property was accomplished in just four months, with a relatively limited budget of $440,000 for the renovations.
The 16-unit community for elderly residents offers one bedroom apartments on a quiet street near many restaurants, retail shops and services, including a farmer’s market for fresh foods. Amenities at the apartments include off-street parking, a large covered porch, community room, laundry facilities, and an onsite management office.
The Green Communities certification recognizes Fairview Heights’ excellent water conservation with low flow plumbing fixtures in units and commons spaces; upgraded roofing with ENERGY STAR certified shingles to reduce heat island effects; improved indoor air quality through the upgrading of ventilation and exhaust systems to meet ASHRAE standards; and incorporation of a smoke-free building policy, in addition to its great location.
Units at Fairview Heights have new kitchens and bathrooms with high-quality finishes and ENERGY STAR appliances. Apartments are accessible to allow visiting by those who use wheelchairs and the rehab created more units offering additional ADA features such as roll-in showers.
We appreciate our financial partners/supporters for this development including: equity investor RBC Capital Markets; permanent lender Wisconsin Housing & Economic Development Authority; construction lender West Union Bank, as well as USDA Rural Development.
