Westerville, OH, June 9, 2017…A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce was held June 9, 2017, at Pebblecreek Crossing located at 418 Big Hill Avenue, Richmond. The new elevator building offers 27 one- and 21 two-bedroom units, many featuring universal design features for disabled residents. The property was designed and built using the latest green construction techniques and equipped with energy-saving heating and cooling systems, windows and appliances.
Unit amenities include window blinds, cable and washer/dryer hook-ups, and built-in microwaves dishwashers, refrigerators and stoves. Each unit has individual central heating and cooling systems and uniform window coverings throughout the units. Pebblecreek Crossing also has a community room with kitchenette, a computer lab, exercise room, library, laundry facilities, additional inside storage space, a large green space area with a pavilion and seating area. An on-site manager is available.
“When we first approached Richmond’s Mayor Jim Barnes, he indicated the need for additional handicapped accessible units. Therefore, we constructed five percent of the units with universal design versus the state’s requirement of two percent in order to better meet the needs of the residents of Richmond. In addition, Mayor Barnes indicated our location was an area where the city was working hard to revitalize. Therefore, we have not only offered additional housing to the senior population area, we have also helped reenergize an overlooked area with the development of Pebblecreek Crossing,” said Tammy Stansbury, Woda’s Vice President of Development and lead for Pebblecreek Crossing.
At the ribbon-cutting Mayor Barnes called Pebblecreek Crossing an “asset” to the town of Richmond. “Thank you for what you do for the community,” he said.
Speaking as part of the formal ceremony just prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Pebblecreek Crossing resident Charlotte Thomas told the developers and supporters, “I’m happy to call all of you my friends and Pebblecreek Crossing my home.”
Total development cost for Pebblecreek Crossing was $6.9 million, made possible in part through the allocation of federal housing tax credits administered by Kentucky Housing Corporation. The Ohio Equity Fund for Housing Limited Partnership XXV was the primary equity investor with additional investment by RiverHills Bank.
